Antifascism then and now – what have we learned?

Series of lectures and talks in Oslo, autumn 2024.

One of the biggest threats to democracy today is the rise of anti-democratic, authoritarian and neo-fascist movements, parties, and regimes around the world. The fight against fascism and for democracy has not been won, but on the contrary must be intensified.

Fascism has received much of attention both as a historical and contemporary phenomenon, but the movements and activists who have actively fought fascism in history have not. There are still many lessons relevant to today’s situation to be learned from the antifascist history.

The Norwegian trade unions, the Holocaust Center and the Jewish Museum in Oslo will arrange a series of lectures and talks about antifascism then and now. The purpose of them is to draw the lessons from history for us to be better equipped in the ongoing fight against the forces threatening democracy today.

NORFAS-members are actively engaged in organising the series: Terje Emberland is co-organiser and Heléne Lööw and Charlie Krautwald will appear as contributors, alongside our close colleague Graham Macklin. Download the program from here:
