NORFAS researchers have participated in drawing up the report When neo-Nazis march on Norwegian streets, you hear a lot of Swedish: Pan-Nordic and transnational dimensions of right-wing extremism. The report is based on a research project financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers and will be launched on 29 March 2023, in Stockholm, accompanied by a seminar “Right-wing extremism in the Nordic region”.
The seminar will discuss how the Nordic right-wing extremism milieu has developed from 1918 until today, with a specific focus on the pan-Nordic and transnational dimensions and connections of the milieu. It will also outline what practices that are used to prevent right-wing extremism and discuss how they are suited to handle the threat right-wing extremism poses to the Nordic societies. Based on the findings, the seminar looks for policy recommendations directed toward the police, municipalities, the Nordic Council of Ministers, and research grant providers to help develop knowledge and efforts to combat right-wing extremism.
